Dr Ian Martin

Dr Ian Martin is a specialist Bariatric and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon based in Brisbane who has built up a busy practice over the past two decades. Dr Martin treats patients with a range of conditions, including hernia, reflux, gallstones and obesity. He specialises in laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques. He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1995.
Dr Martin has published many articles in his area of interest and is actively involved in ongoing research and publications. He has more than 25 years experience as a consultant surgeon and has helped train over 60 surgeons who now operate all over the country and in many centres around the world. Dr Martin performs regular live surgical tuition to Australian and New Zealand surgeons in the field of laparoscopic surgery.
His results are recorded on the national Bariatric Surgery Registry (BSR). Dr Martin has achieved a surgeon of Excellence Award for his work as a Bariatric Surgeon at the Wesley Hospital. Dr Martin also runs regular laparoscopic bariatric masterclasses for surgeons from Australia and New Zealand.
